I was raised by a mother obsessed with Victorian fashion. I am also highly influenced by other periods such as colonial, Elizabethan, Rococo, medieval, 1920s, as well as turn of the century doll clothes.

I was drawn to lolita, dandy and visual fashion because of this and as well, I tend to develop my clothing differently than most Lolita/Aristocrat/Neo-Victorian designers. I use a lot less unecessesary lace and bows and a lot more multiple styles of fabric. Many of the items on this site are lolita, but some are obviously not. In trying to blend US fashion is lolita and visual styles I've developed a style that is recognizable as purely Samantha Rei.
